Jun 6, 2021. #2. You can be guaranteed that if dual channel is used, then this will fail. If you can live with going single channel, then it might work if the timings are reasonably close. You'd have to try to really know, but there would definitely be a performance hit. I wouldn't recommend it even if the third stick is a matching model/timing.
Might be different for you. If it's for gaming just running the 16gb 3600 CL16 kit will be the simplest option, it's a good amount and since Ryzen doesn't support quad channel it'll run faster than 32GB CL18. Overclocking RAM isn't necessary but it's always nice to get a bit more performance from what you have, and there are several tutorials
G.Skill and most memory makers do not guarantee two kits of RAM to work together. So if you are hoping to use two of these kits on a MB that supports 8 x 16GB RAM, you would be better off buying a single 8 x 16GB kit instead. What is the meaning of not giving a guarantee that two 64GB kits will work together?
Memory. The XPS 8930 has four DIMM slots. Your computer supports 8 GB, 16 GB, 24 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB UDIMM DDR4 memory (up to 2400 MHz for i3 processor and up to 2666 MHz for i5/i7/i7k processors). NOTE: Use slots DIMM1 and DMM3 if you need to use two memory modules.
. It is often a requirement that both sticks also have the same capacity, so you can't mix 4GB with 8GB in a bank (but you could do so between each bank). Usually slots A and C are a bank, and slots B and D are a bank. Within each bank, you cannot mix single/dual channel, different speeds, or different timings.
You don't need to match two sticks of 16GB if you aren't going to use all of that, but a 16GB and 8GB stick would give you more consistent performance. Hi, thanks for posting on r/pcgamingtechsupport . Please read the rules . For maximum efficiency, please double check that you used the appropriate flair.

Overview of Memory Chip Density. Data that is being managed by a memory module is stored on cells contained in the small black DRAM chips attached to the memory module's printed circuit board. As memory technologies mature, more of these cells can fit into a chip. This allows for the same memory capacity in fewer chips, or higher total memory
oobymach. Yes it is possible to mix different ddr4 kits, I just recently tested my 16gb (2x8gb samsung b-die) and 32gb (2x16gb hynix) kits together and had 48gb of 2133mhz ram (I couldn't get it to run any faster than that, it wouldn't post at all with super loose timings at 3400mhz and both kits are rated for 4ghz+).
can you mix 8gb ram with 16gb ram
