My RF 24-105 f4 is excellent. No issues. I remember in years past there would often be posts about copy variation with lenses. But today I don't hear about it much. Maybe lens manufacturing has better quality control today. In recent years I have bought the EF 100-400, RF 24-105 f4, RF 100-500, RF 35 f1.4, and they all were excellent. Reviews Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM review This surprisingly sharp kit lens punches well above its aperture and pairs perfectly with the Canon EOS R By James Artaius last updated 4 October 2022 Digital Camera World Verdict Product description. The EOS R5 C is a video-orientated variant of Canon's EOS R5. Part of the Cinema EOS range, it shoots 8K at up to 60p in Canon's Cinema Raw Light format, with 10-bit 422 options in the XF-AVC format. The main distinguishing feature is an active cooling system on the back of the camera, allowing unlimited recording times. If you have the EF 24-105 II and are potentially interested in an RF 24-70F2.8, I would suggest just using the EF on the R for a while. Improvement in IQ by moving to the RF is there, but I think you will find that it is more incremental than game-changing; functionally, EF lenses work perfectly on the R, especially if you invest in the control ring adapter. In terms of image quality, the RF 24-105 F4 L is arguably the best zoom available with this zoom range. The Sony 24-105 F4 is close and may be better in some respects. The Nikon F-mount equivalent is not close though there is a Z-mount 24-105 on Nikon's roadmap that is likely to be very good when it is eventually released. . Product description. There are a number of areas where this kit lens outperforms the 24-105 F4 lens in sharpness : @24 Center sharpness is better F4-F8. @35 Center sharpness is better at F8 and edges are better F4-F11. @70 and @105 The L lens wins here in center sharpness throughout but the kit lens has better edges throughout. As for the RF 24-105 f/4L IS lens, it seemed soft and didn't perform as well as my Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS II. In fact, I'd say it performed closer to my very old 24-105mm f/4L IS with terrible diffraction after f/11.
